The recent theme with episodes of NXT is that we will get squash matches featuring NXT talent and guys who lost in the Cruiserweight Classic. That's how this show opened, with TM61 taking on Daivari and Tony Nese, this match went on for about 9 minutes and was decent I guess. What got me annoyed was that the cultured neckbeard smarks in attendance at this show were chanting "AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE, OI OI OI" because they know everything. TM61 win with some Thunder Valley related move on Daivari.
Tom Phillips is sitting backstage interviewing NXT Women's Champion Asuka, I could barely understand Asuka. I think I heard her say that Bayley is the heart of NXT and she beat her. Ember Moon is shown sitting outside Full Sail University in the dark waiting to compete. Backstage Steve Cutler is interviewed and he says that he is ready to take on Shinsuke Nakamura. Then we got Ember Moon vs. Lea, this match went for about 2 minutes. The only notable thing in it was Ember Moon's awesome looking top rope flippy stunner for the pinfall victory.
Backstage No Way Jose cuts another promo where he is asking rhetorical questions before answering with 'No Way'. Then we get Tommaso Ciampa having his rib examined by a "WWE Doctor", Gargano comes in and asks him if he is ready to compete. Gargano says that if he is then next week at the Cruiserweight Classic 2 hour special they will get an NXT Tag Team Title match against The Revival. the "doctor" poorly reads a script, she says that Ciampa will be fit to compete following some days of rest.
Then we get Austin Aries vs. Andrade Cien Almas, this match went for nearly ten minutes a featured some good in ring action. I just want to see Aries take on Bobby Roode, or them as a tag team, or something different because Cien and No Way Jose are fine but Aries should be doing something bigger and better, like having confrontations with Hideo Itami . Aries wins with a powerbomb into a Last Chancery. This Aries vs. Cien match could have and probably should have been the main event, but NO.
Shinsuke Nakamura defeating Steve Cutler in a 3 minute squash match with Samoa Joe on commentary was our main event, this should have opened the show. Shinsuke hit a Kinshasa on Cutler for the pinfall victory. The show goes off the air with Nakamura posing to the crowd with his NXT Championship belt in toe, as Joe sits on commentary not looking impressed.
Overall Show Rating: Mediocre; I am starting to lose interest in NXT, most of these shows just feature random matches between indie darlings, backstage interviews with people who you can barely understand or matches which only purposes are to create visuals for video packages three months down the line. Don't bother going out of your way to watch this show, you won't be missing anything.
