Goldberg returning made me watch RAW...so let's review this. The show began with Cole narrating a video of Goldberg, then they show that tonight we will see Lita's interviews with the Women's Hell in a Cell match competitors...I want to turn off already. Then WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho come down, they get annoyed at the crowd. Jericho talks about how Foley is a stupid idiot for putting Owens inside HIAC. Owens talks down Seth Rollins a little bit. Seth Rollins came down, he called Jericho "sparkle crotch"...failed comedy.
Following five minutes of Jericho + Rollins back and forth they have a match which they themselves announce on the spot...then Cole says that Foley announced it earlier...I hate Michael Cole. I haven't been watching RAW, so I wouldn't know. But can someone who has tell me how many times these guys have wrestled in the last month or so, I know that these two wrestled last week in the main event, and I just have the feeling that these two are having rematch after rematch. I barely watched this match, I do know that Owens came down and there were shenanigans. Rollins won with the Pedigree.
After ten minutes of nothing, we get Lita's interview with Charlotte. Charlotte talks about how she was born ready and how she will take down Sasha inside the Cell. The Shining Stars and Titus O'Neil then get beaten by Mark Henry, R-Truth and Goldust...moving right along. Backstage Jericho and Owens are arguing, Jericho has apparently just had a shower...even though he has his trunks on again. Stephanie walks over and awkwardly announces that at Survivor Series 2016 there will be 3 Survivor Series Elimination matches. One for men, one for women and one for tag teams.
The New Day's Big E then fought Sheamus, Cesaro has a phone now and is filming everything...WHY???? Sheamus lost via roll up, then we get the 3rd of the 'Goldberg returns tonight vignettes'. Next we got some more jobber antics with Curtis Axel, Neville and Bo Dallas. Bo ends up standing tall. Bayley then takes on Dana Brooke in a singles match, Dana Brooke would get the win as Bayley hurts her shoulder (kayfabe probably). What came next was Michael Cole (Dan Rather) and his news broadcast partners (Corey and Byron) crossing live too WWE Studios and talking to Paul Heyman. All you need to know is that there were loud 'Goldberg' chants.
Braun Strowman then squashed a three man team of local jobbers. Sami Zayn rushed down after the match, then Strowman shoved Sami out of the ring...Strowman is now my third favorite wrestler (behind Goldberg and Brock). To begin the 3rd hour of RAW Lana brought out Rusev (who now has an ugly CM Punk 2013 esc beard). Rusev talks about cracking coconut's over heads, I barely paid attention to this. Although I did see Rusev showing off a presentation called 'The Rusev's'. Roman Reigns came down eventually, he's getting better on the mic. He kept it pretty quick, then Rusev beat him up.
Enzo and Cass did something with Anderson and Gallows...it's Enzo and Cass, I don't watch their segments. There's Cruiserweight garbage backstage, Sasha Banks' interview with Lita is shown, then there is a cruiserweight match...JUST GET TO GOLDBERG.
Michael Cole introduces the Mania 20 Lesnar v Goldberg match, then the Paul Heyman promo last week (highlights of it). Then Goldberg makes his entrance (to his old WCW theme), this was INCREDIBLE. I loved this, he was storming through the backstage area, as all the WWE Jobbers were sitting there clapping (which made it cheesy, but it was still a cool sight). Goldberg did the stuff through the pyro, he got into the ring and the crowd was loudly chanting "Goldberg", they were chanting "Holy S***"....this crowd was great. But it didn't help that they kept showing the Governor Of Colorado.
Goldberg talks about how this is the first time his kid gets to watch him live...I think Goldberg was about to start crying. Goldberg talks about the opportunity that WWE 2K17 gave him, he talks about being a superhero to the children. Goldberg mentions drama he had with the WWE...'I'm breaking the fourth wall, hi Colt Cabana, how ya doin?'. Goldberg then says that he accepts Paul Heyman's challenge. Goldberg talks about how he has one last SPEAR in him, one last DEVASTATING JACKHAMMER in him. Goldberg says "Brock Lesnar not only does that mean that you're next, that also means that your last".
Goldberg drops the mic, his WWE theme from 2003-04 starts playing. Goldberg then storms over to his son, if Sami Zayn did this I'd turn the show off, but with Goldberg it is an incredible spectacle. Lesnar will be on RAW next week...I care more about that than anything at Hell in a Cell this Sunday. One quick notice I have, one reason why having a real monster like Goldberg returning for one last run is epic is because his generation is the last generation of superstar wrestlers to do these runs. Who is going to get excited in 2030 when The Miz comes back to wrestle someone, who'll be excited when Sami Zayn comes back to the company for another run. I'm so glad I'm experiencing Goldberg.
Overall Show Rating: One Awesome Segment...Everything Else Was Skippable; This show featured one of those moments which I will be so glad that I was able to watch at the time of it happening. Goldberg is on our WWE TV screens, during his entrance I was feeling so much nostalgia, it was awesome. His promo was really good, I love his intensity on the mic, so much more than Sami Zayn's happy to be there promos. Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar II is going to be incredible.
The rest of this show was skippable rubbish, Sasha and Charlotte had pre taped interviews with Lita, Sami Zayn got wrecked by Braun Strowman, Jericho / Owens / Rollins took up the first 37 minutes of this show...same stuff on RAW as we have been seeing for the last two months...but Goldberg made this show watchable.
